Print of the week

Title: “Projectile Dysfuction”

Artist: Joey Van Eckhout’10
Medium: ScreenprintArtist’s statement: “This is a very simple screen print in which I used a picture of an assault rifle, which is clearly no longer functional, and included a couple of words which comment on the nature of war and violence. I wanted my print to be something semi-political. The assault rifle is a very recognizable weapon and I visualized a gun with its barrel bent, meaning not usable, meaning end of war. As many men in our society suffer from ‘erectile dysfunction,’ maybe many of the rifles in the world should suffer from ‘projectile dysfunction’. Just a thought to ponder while you flip through the rest of Friday’s reading.
