Rogahn-Press headed to NCAAs for women’s track and field
- The women’s track and field team had a great weekend. Kate Fox ‘28 placed seventh in the mile with a time of 4:59.60 at the Wartburg Final Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa, breaking her previous school record. The bigger news came days later: Ariella Rogahn-Press ‘28 competed at the UW-LaCrosse Final Qualifier and broke her own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 25.05.
- That performance earned Rogahn-Press a berth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala. She will compete in both the 400 and 200 meters — her 400 mark of 54.60 ranks sixth all-time in Division III history.
- The MIAC had already announced its postseason honors earlier in the week. On the women’s side, Rogahn-Press was named MIAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year following her performance at the conference championships.
Men’s track and field closes indoor season at Wartburg
- The Scots wrapped up indoor track season at Wartburg on Mar. 6-7, with several athletes turning in strong individual performances.
- Quinn Hoisington ‘27 raced in the mile and finished 16th with a personal-best time of 4:17.44, a mark that ranks fourth all-time at Macalester. Ataa Mensah ‘28 won the triple jump with a leap of 13.78 meters (45-2.5) — a strong bounce-back after his All-MIAC runner-up finish at the conference meet last week.
Men’s tennis falls to the Norse
- Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to Rochester Tennis Connection on Saturday for non-conference duals against Luther College before departing for their respective spring break trips.
- The men lost 6-1 to the Norse, who improved to 8-2 on the season. The bright spot came at the top of the lineup: the No. 1 doubles team of Jordan Doi ‘26 and Charles Flaman ‘29 won 6-4, and Flaman earned the Scots’ lone point with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. The loss drops the Scots to 4-3.
- The Scots will compete over spring break before returning to MIAC play.
Women drop dual in Rochester
- The women also fell to Luther, 5-2. Seniors Savannah Haugen ‘26 and Elizabeth Trevathan ‘26 provided the Scots’ points: Haugen and Trevathan won their No. 1 doubles match 6-3, and both won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-3 each). Luther won the remaining four singles matches to take the dual. The Scots fall to 3-3.
- They’ll now head out for spring break competition before returning to MIAC play.
