Women’s Soccer suffers first two defeats of the season

  • The Scots fell 1-4 to Augsburg University on Sept. 17. Macalester put the first point on the board in the 33rd minute with a goal from Julia Kispert ’23. Goalkeeper Jocelyn Radke ’24 posted a total of six saves. 
  • On Sept. 18, the Scots lost 0-6 on the road to Wartburg College. The Scots combined for a total of ten shots. Lily Lorenzen ’23, Sophie Jones ’26 and Kispert tallied three shots on goal. 

Men’s Soccer plays stalemate at home

  • Macalester tied 0-0 with Augsburg University on Sept. 17 at Macalester Stadium. Hans Haenicke ’25 was the Scots’ game leader with three shots. Goalkeeper Sam Price ’25 posted a total of seven saves over the course of the game. 
  • The Sept. 20 game against University of Wisconsin-Superior was postponed 15 minutes into the game due to lightning. The game may be replayed later in the season. 

Lengfelder smashes school record in Women’s Golf Division III Classic

  • Macalester competed in the Division III Classic on Sept. 17 and 18, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus. The team finished in ninth place out of 17 teams that participated. 
  • Bailey Lengfelder ’26 broke the Macalester school record for the 36-hole Individual Best with a score of 149, a record previously held by Kristy Schaff ’03. 

Men’s golf places in back half of invitational

  • On Sept. 17 and 18, Men’s Golf competed in the Saint John’s Fall Invitational. The team finished 10th in the team scoring. 
  • Harry Cheng ’26 placed highest for the Scots, with a 156 placing him in 37th overall. In a tie for 39th, Tommy Hayes ’23 and Brady Thomas ’26 were one shot each behind Cheng.

Volleyball sweeps NJ tournament, blanks at home

  • The Volleyball team traveled to New Jersey for the Castle Point Challenge, sweeping the three-game weekend. 
  • The Scots won 3-0 against William Patterson on Sept. 16 in the first game of the Challenge.
  • Adisa Preston ’25 led the team with eight kills and two blocks. 
  • On Sept. 17, the Scots won both games, going 3-1 over Wentworth Institute of Technology followed by a win over Stevens Tech with a score of 3-2. 
  • Preston led the team again in the game against Wentworth with 16 kills and one block. 
  • In the second game against Stevens, Gwen Wooten ’25 led with a total of 13 kills and three blocks. 
  • In their MIAC Opener, the Scots fell to Gustavus 3-0 on Sept. 21. 
  • The leader of the game was Eliza King ’23, posting nine kills and one block.
