Family recipe: Homemade eggnog

As the holiday season draws near, bring together your friends and family for a warm evening of merryment. Include this recipe for homemade eggnog, which is best made for large groups (the measurements definitely produce a party-sized amount).

6 eggs, separated, and yolks with whites beaten separately.

Add 1/2 cup sugar to the beaten yolks.

Beat the whites stiff and add 1/2 cup sugar.

Stir 1 pint of cream, 1 pint of milk, 1 pint of Four Roses (or similar Bourbon) and 1 ounce of Jamaica Rum into the yolks.

Fold the egg whites into this mixture.

Drink and be merry.
