Title: “Sense of Place”

Artist: Pei-Hsuan Wang ’10
Medium: IntalgioArtist’s statement: “Sense of Place is an intaglio print. I coated a sheet of copper plate with acid resistance material and carved through the coating with needle tool, making designs while revealing the copper underneath. The plate was then placed in an acid bath for etching. Finally, I printed the imagery created by the acid corroding the plate. This print is kind of like a vague story open to interpretation. Subtlety and understatement of narratives is what I am trying to explore. You can come up with any story and it would somehow ‘make sense.’
