Orgs discuss activist anti-war coalition
March 2, 2007
By Federico Burlon
A group of students from different campus activist organizations has been informally meeting since Tuesday, Feb. 20 to organize an anti-war protest on March 20 to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the aerial campaign on Iraq.
The group was started by over a dozen students from various student organizations. Meetings have happened at the Macalester Infoshop—located in the Kirk basement—where members debate different demonstration proposals ranging from joining a rally organized by students at the University of Minnesota to having speakers on campus.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the chosen proposal was to have a campus rally in the afternoon with an open mic event and faculty speakers. The event will be advertised using the motto “walk out, speak out, break out.”
