Recent data from
Harvard University ranks Macalester among the top rated schools in
the country by junior faculty members, or faculty members not yet
tenured.
The study, conducted by
the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE),
found that junior faculty members at participating institutions
placed greater importance on issues such as tenure clarity, nature of
work, work and family balance, and collegiality. Macalester College
ranked high in the COACHE study in the categories of policy
effectiveness and compensation.
Institutions that did
not perform well in the COACHE study are having their names protected
by the organization.
