Campus thefts continue

Two separate incidents of theft this week added to the recent high-profile thefts on campus.Equipment recently purchased by the Macalester DJ club Spinners Suite was stolen from the basement of Doty Hall. The club was initiated last Spring and first received funding from student government this October.

The club used the funding to buy the ultimately stolen equipment. Two turntables, a four-channel mixer, and the club’s sound system were stolen, said member Daniel Liu ’08.

“[With the theft], the DJs who don’t have their own turntables will not be able to spin at parties,” Liu said. “If we want to continue, it would be good to have them back.”

A student employee at the Alumni House was also a victim of robbery this week. He left his laptop downstairs in the lobby and went upstairs for a couple of minutes. When he returned his laptop was missing along with his only copy of an eight-page essay.
