Tis the season: beer happenings around town

The Ale Jail and Wine Thief Anniversary party: Friday, September 27 from 4-7p.m., 1787 St. Clair Ave. This event celebrates the third year for this local craft brew emporium with tastings from 20 plus breweries for free.

The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild is having their 13th Annual Autumn Brew Review festival this Saturday, September 28 from 1-5 p.m. in Minneapolis. Tickets are a bit pricey ($45 in advance, $55 at the door), but sober designated drivers get in for $10. Check out their website at www.mncraftbrew.org.

10 days of Oktoberfest at the Black Forest Inn start September 27 and goes through October 6th. The days are described as including, “Alphorns! Accordions! Food specials! Photo Opportunities! Prizes! Beer! Beer! Beer!” and more info can be found at http://www.blackforestinnmpls.com/pgs/events.php

Twin Cities Oktoberfest, October 4th-5th at the State Fair grounds. Tickets are $25 but include a 24 oz. beer stein and one fill of said mug with 24 ounces of beer. For information, daily schedules and tickets visit http://www.twincitiesoktoberfest.com/

Flat Earth tours tend to be Saturdays at noon or 5 p.m., but they also offer tours Tuesdays at 5:30. Email [email protected] to reserve a spot and remember to bring a can for their food shelf when you go.

Surly tours are limited to 30 people at a time and sign-up occurs two hours before hand. Check the schedule at surlybrewing.com for available days as they are posted.

Summit offers two tours every Saturday, one at 10:30 a.m. and one at 1 p.m. Spots fill up quickly, so make reservations online.
