Women’s tennis
- The Scots swept Hamline University on Thursday, April 21, winning 9-0.
- Amalin Sorajja ’23 and Avery Munster ’23 dropped three games total in both doubles and singles. The duo won at #2 doubles 8-1, with both posting a 6-1 6-0 singles win afterwards.
- Macalester lost 9-0 to St. Olaf College on Wednesday, April 27.
Men’s tennis
- The Scots posted three straight conference wins this past week, beating Hamline 8-1, Saint John’s University 7-2 and St. Olaf 7-2.
- Macalester cruised to a win against Hamline on April 21, only dropping one match. Alec Sargent ’25 pulled out a tough win at #1 singles, finishing 6-1, 2-6 (10-7).
- Against Saint John’s, Sargent pulled out another tough win at #1, finishing 7-6 (7-2), 7-5.
- Jordan Doi ’25 rolled through at #2 singles against St. Olaf, winning 6-2, 6-2. Liam Lynch ’25 and Alex Poland ’22 also posted their tenth win of the season at #3 doubles, finishing 8-3.
Softball
- Softball split two MIAC matchups this past week and swept one.
- The Scots started out with a sweep of Augsburg University on April 21, winning 10-2 and 7-6.
- The Scots returned to action against Concordia College (Minn.) on April 23, dropping their first game 1-0 and winning their second 7-6.
- In their second game, Macalester bounced back for the win, thanks to baserunning from Mackenzie Clarke ’22 late in the seventh inning. Clarke also had two RBIs and a hit. Katzin posted two runs, two RBIs and two hits, one of which was a home run.
- The Scots faced off against the College of St. Scholastica on April 24, winning their first game 10-0.
- In their second game, the Saints found their rhythm and overcame the Scots 15-7. Clarke had two hits, two RBIs and one run. Katzin also posted another two hits.
Baseball
- The Scots went 2-6 this past week, dropping several tough conference matchups.
- On April 21, Macalester dropped both their games against St. Olaf, losing 6-4 and 16-6.
- The Scots returned to action against Saint John’s on Saturday, losing 6-5 and 10-0.
- In their third matchup of the week, Macalester split a doubleheader against Carleton College, losing the first game 9-2 and winning the second 10-8.
Women’s track and field
- The Scots participated in the Holst Invitational at Concordia College-St. Paul on April 23.
- Journey Amundson ’23 won the triple jump with a mark of 11.73 meters, good for third all-time at Macalester.
Men’s track and field
- Men’s track and field participated in the Holst Invitational at Concordia-St. Paul, where no scores were kept.
- Arlo Heitler ’25 set a new personal best in the 200 meter-dash with a time of 21.96, good for second all-time at Macalester.
Water polo
- The Scots went to the 2022 CWPA Tournament from April 21 to April 24. Macalester defeated Grove City, 15-5, on April 21, before falling to eventual champion Austin College, 13-4, and Wittenberg University, 11-4, the next two days. The Scots finished fourth in the CWPA Tournament with a record of 6-13 and 4-4 in the CWPA.
- Three Scots were named to CWPA Division III-West All-Conference Teams, with Eleanor Michaud ’23 named to the first team. Riley Waters ’22 and Laurel O’Hare ’24 earned second team honors.
Men’s golf
- The Scots placed 15th out of 16 teams at the Saint John’s Spring Invitational, held on April 24. Ryan Vaver ’25 was the top finisher for Macalester, tying for 53rd. The Scots return to action on April 30 through May 1 at the Carleton-St. Olaf Triangular.
Women’s golf
- Macalester finished ninth out of 14 teams at the Carleton-St. Olaf Invitational on April 23. Tenley Smith ’22 led Macalester and placed tenth with a score of 82. The Scots return to action on April 30 through May 1 at the Carleton-St. Olaf Triangular.
