Mediterranean flatbread pizza with goat cheese
HJ: The pizza was a great size to split for a happy hour snack time treat, but there definitely wasn’t much goat cheese. I expected the goat cheese to be more essential to the dish, but it was more of a sprinkled on after thought. There were plenty of olives, which provided the Mediterranean flair advertised. The crust was paper thin and crispy. Definitely something to eat on the spot, best served hot and crunchy. It was good, but not piled high with flavor.
JK: Grand Central’s flatbreads have stayed out of my reach for quite some time, but this was the day I made the leap. This flatbread walks an awkward middle ground; it’s too big for one to handle, but if two people conquered this, they’d still be hungry. I would recommend the latter and getting it to share, perhaps with a small side salad to complement. I really enjoyed this pizza. It was full of flavor, and like Heather said, it didn’t skimp on the olives. Maybe I’m biased, but I thought the olive flavor was a bit too strong. Grand Central packed plenty of ingredients onto this pizza, and often it felt like the flatbread couldn’t support it. Have a fork and knife at the ready, and you’ll be just fine.
Tex Mex Crepe
HJ: I think this was my first savory crepe experience, and I was pleasantly surprised. I usually go for sweet crepes, but why stop there!? The perfectly-made crepe comes filled with chipotle chicken, beans, cheese and topped with a fresh pico de gallo salsa and slices of avocado. The chicken was seasoned well, and added a spicy kick that didn’t overwhelm the rest of the flavors. The pico salsa on top complimented the warm filling of the crepe, making each bite both fresh and hearty.
JK: The Tex Mex Crepe is a favorite of mine. It’s delicious, without being unhealthy and indulgent. You could easily have this for a breakfast, lunch or dinner (or, if you are like Heather and me, get it at 2:30 p.m. for no reason at all). There’s plenty of flavor in these crepes, and they’re very filling. The crepe comes with a side salad as well, which doesn’t pack much punch but is a nice palate cleanser after you’ve finished eating.
