Softball toss-up:
- Softball’s doubleheader this past Saturday against Bethel University began poorly with a 2-5 loss in the first game despite Sophie Futchko’s ’25 scoring efforts at the top of the fourth inning. These Scots pulled it out for the second game, winning 3-2 thanks to steady play by Martha Miller ’27, who pitched in all seven innings while only allowing two runs.
- The team will go on to play against the College of St. Scholastica this Saturday, May 3.
Baseball’s penultimate doubleheader:
- Baseball played a MIAC doubleheader against the College of St. Scholastica on Tuesday, April 29, clinching a 3-1 win in the first game against the Saints. They landed this win all in the fourth inning thanks to both Aram Dombalagian ’28 and Nathan Gumagay’s ’26 scoring efforts.
- The Saints beat the Scots in the much higher-scoring second game, 18-13. Though they held a solid lead in the second inning, the Saints got six runs at the top of the seventh inning, cementing their 16-10 lead by the top of the eighth. Baseball will close out the season with a final MIAC doubleheader against Gustavus Augustus College on Friday, May 2.
Men’s golf ends season on low note:
- They’re your number one, yeah, men just living that life von dutch, golf classic but they still pop!
- At the Saint John’s Spring Invitational on April 26-27, men’s golf ended their season with a major loss, ranking 12 out of the 15 teams at the invitational. Gustavus Adolphus College won the weekend, taking the Scots by (wind)storm, 574-636. The top scorer from the Scots was Ben d’Entremont ’26, who posted 77 76 (153) and tied for 26th overall.
Women’s golf stay constant:
- When it’s time to tee, do you like what you see? When you’re on the green you’re just looking at me. They’re everywhere, they’re so Julia. Go Scots, go go Scots!
- Women’s golf fared better than the men’s team at the St. Olaf/Carleton Spring Invitational, ranking 8th out of 11 teams with a total score of 352 356 (688). Individually, Bailey Lengfelder ’26 posted the strongest Scots performance to tie for 13th, with a score of 81 81 (162), followed by an inter-team tie for 36th by Mia Cluff ’28 and Kirstyn Hope Barsola ’25, who scored 88 86 (174) and 90 84 (174), respectively. The team is set to play against St. Catherine University on Saturday, May 3.
Women’s tennis closes out season
- The regular season came to a close for women’s tennis on Saturday, April 26 in a final home dual against St. Olaf College that ended in an 8-1 loss. Elizabeth Trevathan ’26 put the team on the board with 6-2, 6-4 wins in No. 2 singles.
- The Scots wrapped up the 2024-25 season with a MIAC dual at Hamline University on Sunday, April 27, losing 6-3 to the Pipers that afternoon and finishing the season 3-15. Savannah Haugen ’26 and Trevathan earned the Scots’ three points of the match in No. 1 doubles and respective wins in No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Men’s tennis goes down to wire
- Men’s tennis narrowly fell to Bethel University last Friday, April 25 in a 5-4 loss that came down to the wire. While ahead, dynamic duos Liam Lynch ’25 and Alex Sargent ’25 and Kangyu Li ’27 and Beckett Annes ’28 won in No.1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. The pressure was on especially for Li and Annes, who won their doubles match in a tie-breaker 8-7 (7-5).
- The following afternoon, Lynch clinched the Scots’ two points on the day, first in No. 1 doubles with Sargent and later in No. 1 singles, to close out the team’s season with 8-9 overall. The loss means they’ll miss the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
Women’s track and field places at home
- Last Saturday, April 26, the women’s track and field team hosted the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational, where they claimed a third-place spot on the podium. Ariella Rogahn-Press ’28, who couldn’t help but do what she does best, took another school record with a second-place finish of 12.18 in the 100m. The 4x400m relay dream team of Rogahn-Press, Megan Worry ’28, Anna Warren ’25 and Hadley Wilkins ’26 swept the floor with their competition, finishing first at 4:04.68.
- The team saw a busy middle of their week, competing in Hamline University’s Meet of the UnSaintly on Wednesday, April 30. Against their cross-University Ave. rivals, Samantha Ellis ’27 placed fifth with a 12:01.91 in the 3000m steeple, and Brooke Boroughs ’27 took seventh in the javelin throw with 30.46m..
Men’s track and field takes second
- Men’s track and field took second at their stomping grounds, placing second at the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational with a string of victories and records. In the 100m, Arlo Heitler ’25 broke another program record with a 10.58 finish time, and Kalid Ali ’25 saw a personal best with 50.12 in the 400m.
- John Ihrke ’28 ran a 1:51.70 in the 800m at Wednesday’s meet against the Pipers, not only shattering his personal record but taking home a D-III ranking at 24th.
