If you were staying in the area for Thanksgiving, and thought you’d have nowhere to go, look no further: there will be a full Thanksgiving dinner for students in the Summit House.
The meal, jointly funded by Residential Life and the MCSG Community Chest, will be available for up to 30 students.
According to Merrit Stueven ’17, who helped organize the event, many students who do not or can not go home for Thanksgiving may feel excluded from other celebrations. This dinner gives students a space to feel included and welcome.
“We wanted to give people the chance to have an authentic, home cooked Thanksgiving meal with their community here at Mac,” Stuven wrote in an email.
“We saw hosting a Thanksgiving meal as a way to build that sense of community during a break when programming is limited,” Cole Ware ’17, another organizer, said.
This is the first time in recent memory a Thanksgiving dinner has been hosted on campus. Res Life has hosted pizza parties on Thanksgiving day in the past.
