This week, WMCN manager Matthew Later sat down with one of the station DJs, Sierra Hinwood, to talk about why you should tune into her radio show.
How would you describe the format of your show?
My show is structured so that I play 2-3 songs and then discuss the topic of the week between sets. Each week focuses on a different sign in the Zodiac.
Why should people listen? What makes it unique?
Hey Baby, What’s Your Sign? is an astrological audio adventure through the Zodiac! I play lots of rad music and often include clips of people describing characteristics of that week’s sign. There’s a lot of sort of bizarre stuff out on the web regarding the Zodiac and it makes for good, fun show material. I also include scientific information on the constellation and symbol associated with the astrological sign.
Are there any other shows you enjoy listening to on WMCN?
I try as often as possible to turn on WMCN when I’m just bumming around at home, so I hear a variety of shows. Everyone’s doing such a fantastic job with their shows, I honestly can’t pick just one!
What are some of your plans for future episodes?
I’m really looking forward to my Scorpio show – I really would like to focus on the dark characteristics of Scorpios. I’d love for the playlist to evoke an obsessive, poisonous, vengeful feel. It’s so satisfying to create a playlist with a distinct atmosphere, so I’m always striving to do just that.
