The women’s basketball team has won four of their last five games and currently sits 8th in the MIAC with a conference record of 6-8. Majra Mucic ’11 and Jessica Rene ’12 lead the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 and 9.6 points per game, respectively. The women face St. Mary’s tomorrow afternoon in Winona and return home Monday evening to take on Gustavus Adolphus. The men’s basketball team started the season with an 8-game losing streak (26-games dating back to last season), but claimed their first win of the season with a 90-81 upset of St. Johns over winter break. Coming off of the MIAC win, the team had high hopes for a turnaround, but has faltered in recent weeks and currently holds a 1-15 record. While this season has been a struggle, the team is flush with young talent, and there is reason for optimism in the coming years. Pierce Peters ’13 is leading the team in scoring with 16.5 ppg and Chris Quinn ’14 is leading the team in assists with 3.2 apg.
