Café Mac hacks: breakfast bonanza

One of our favorite times in Café Mac is between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.—breakfast! There is so much you can make; from breakfast sandwiches to yogurt parfaits, the options are endless. If you are looking for a well-balanced, nutritious breakfast, one option is granola with yogurt and fruit. If you’re looking for a protein-packed meal to get you through the day, eggs and a veggie patty atop a toasted bagel is a good way to go. Finally, a simple yogurt and fruit parfait is perfect if you are not looking for a heavy breakfast.

In order to create your yogurt, granola and fruit bowl, go over to the granola station by the fruit bar and fill your bowl halfway. Then, go to the fruit station and put either vanilla or plain Greek yogurt on top of the granola. Adding either melon or berries to the yogurt and granola is a great addition as well. We recommend the strawberries which are perfect if sliced up and put on top. Otherwise the cantaloupe is great with the vanilla yogurt as well.

If you really need a hearty meal, we strongly recommend you try the breakfast sandwich. To create the sandwich, begin by heading over to the toaster oven and throwing in a bagel. While it is toasting, get some eggs—we recommend the cheesy eggs—and a veggie or sausage patty and then grab your bagel. If it is a weekend morning, we also highly recommend adding some veggies from the salad bar to your creation. Place the ingredients on the bagel and enjoy!

Finally, a lighter breakfast option for those early mornings is a yogurt parfait. This meal is great because of the abundance of protein and fiber you get from the yogurt and fruits. Head over to the fruit bar and grab a cereal bowl along the way. Begin the parfait with a layer of fruit. Any of the fruits work, so just choose your favorites to include. After your first layer of fruit, scoop on some yogurt. Both vanilla and plain work great so choose one or take turns layering them. Repeat this pattern as many times as you want. Enjoy this delicious and nutritious breakfast.

At least once in your life, someone has probably told you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day; it’s true. Without a sufficient intake of carbs and protein, it is almost impossible to perform at your highest ability. These three breakfast options are all great ways to kick off your morning and ensure that you are getting the jumpstart you need to make it through the day successfully. Give one a try and let us know how you feel!
