![Sherman Alexie addresses the crowd Monday night in Kagin Ballroom. Though his poems were viscerally emotional, the anecdotes he shared in between had the whole room laughing—sometimes at themselves. This performance seemed to be its own form of poetry; as Alexie put it, "that's how we [Native Americans] deal with pain: we laugh at it."
