Farmers’ market to reopen this weekend

Farmers%E2%80%99+market+to+reopen+this+weekend

Spring may finally be here, at least by produce standards! The St. Paul Farmers’ Market will re-open for the season this weekend. Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can peruse and purchase some of the first spring vegetables from Minnesota.

During the long winter months, the farmers market hibernates by turning into the winter market. The winter market is located indoors and offers breads, meats, cheeses, sweets and other items that do not require it to be above freezing outside to produce. The winter market is all fine and good, but there is something truly special about the St. Paul Farmers’ Market and about the availability of fresh produce in general.

Asparagus, radishes, green onions, rhubarb and spinach are the first responders to our produce needs, according to the St. Paul Farmers’ Market website, as their seasons start in May. Since the winter has been so long and cold, you may expect the first few weeks of the market to consist primarily of honey, meats, cheeses, baked goods and plants for purchase.
